Hootsuite Pricing 2026: How Much Hootsuite Costs

Standard $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399, and every one of those is per user per month. That last detail is what turns a $199 plan into a $597 bill for a team of three. Verified prices and the seat math.

The demo above plans a real campaign for your business in about 30 seconds, free, no account. Worth seeing before you price a platform: this is the work a scheduler still needs someone to do after you have paid for it.

The short answer: Hootsuite costs $99 per user per month on Standard, $199 per user on Professional and $399 per user on Advanced, with Enterprise quoted individually. Those are the annual-billing rates. Standard covers up to 10 social accounts and the higher tiers are unlimited. There is no free plan any more, only a 14-day trial with no credit card required. The detail that decides your budget is the phrase "per user": the meter counts logins, not companies, so a three-person team on Professional pays $597 a month rather than $199.

Every figure below was read from Hootsuite's own US pricing page on 11 August 2026, with the page confirmed as serving US dollars. Prices move, so check before you sign.

Hootsuite pricing in 2026

Plan Price Social accounts What it adds
Standard $99 per user per month Up to 10 Unlimited scheduled posts, AI post and image generation, one inbox for messages, brand and competitor monitoring.
Professional $199 per user per month Unlimited Everything in Standard, plus automated inbox replies and workflows, social trend forecasting up to 90 days ahead, and custom performance reports.
Advanced $399 per user per month Unlimited Everything in Professional, plus approval workflows and cross-team collaboration.
Enterprise Quoted individually Unlimited Custom terms. Annual Enterprise plans can be invoiced and paid by check, wire or ACH rather than card.

Hootsuite accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, JCB and PayPal. The 14-day trial needs no credit card and does not roll into a charge automatically, which is unusually clean for this category.

The per-user meter is the whole story

Read the plan names and Hootsuite looks like a $99 to $399 product. Read the unit and it becomes something else. Every price above is charged for each person who needs to log in, so the bill scales with headcount rather than with how much social media you actually do.

Here is what that means for three realistic US teams, using the published annual rates.

Team Plan Monthly Per year
One person, under 10 profiles Standard, 1 user $99 $1,188
Three people, many profiles Professional, 3 users $597 $7,164
Five people with approvals Advanced, 5 users $1,995 $23,940

The five-person Advanced line is the one that surprises people. Nothing about that plan is mis-sold, but $23,940 a year is agency money, and plenty of teams arrive there by adding one login at a time rather than by making a decision.

There is a practical move here that has nothing to do with software. Seats are billed for access, so the question worth asking is who genuinely needs to be inside the tool rather than who would like to see the calendar. Read-only stakeholders often do not need a seat at all. And if the real bottleneck is that nobody has time to write the posts, it is worth pricing a few hours a month from a freelance social media writer against the cost of a third and fourth seat, because those two purchases solve very different problems.

What each tier actually unlocks

The jump from Standard to Professional does two things. It removes the 10-account cap, and it turns on automation inside the inbox along with custom reporting. If you are running a handful of profiles for one brand, the cap will not bite and Standard is genuinely enough. If you manage several brands, several locations, or a company plus its executives, you will hit 10 profiles quickly and the decision is made for you.

The jump from Professional to Advanced is mostly about control rather than capability. You are buying approval workflows and cross-team collaboration, which matter enormously in regulated industries and barely at all for a three-person business where everyone trusts everyone. Paying $200 more per user for approvals you will never route is the most common overspend on this pricing page.

Is Hootsuite free?

No. Hootsuite used to run a permanent free plan and retired it, which is still the single most common complaint about the product. What exists now is a 14-day free trial with no credit card required and no automatic charge at the end. After that, Standard at $99 per user is the entry point.

If a free tier is genuinely what you need rather than a trial, Buffer still offers one, and it remains the main name in this category that does. That is a real difference in kind, not a small pricing gap.

Hootsuite compared with Buffer and Sprout Social

These three get shortlisted together constantly, and comparing their headline prices is close to meaningless because they charge for different units. Buffer bills per connected channel. Hootsuite bills per user. Sprout Social bills per seat. Same category, three different meters.

Platform Meter Published US entry price Free tier
Buffer Per connected channel Essentials $5 per channel, Team $10 per channel per month. Team includes unlimited team members. Yes, a genuine free plan
Hootsuite Per user Standard $99, Professional $199, Advanced $399 per user per month. No, 14-day trial only
Sprout Social Per seat Essentials $79, Standard $199, Professional $299, Advanced $399 per seat per month. No, 30-day trial only

Run one team through all three and the spread is large. Three people covering eight channels pay $80 a month on Buffer Team, $597 on Hootsuite Professional and $897 on Sprout Professional. Buffer is not secretly better value in every case: it has no comparable unified inbox, no approval routing and much lighter listening. But if what you need is publishing, the per-channel meter is dramatically cheaper, and the only way to see that is to price your own seat and channel counts rather than compare plan names. Our guide to social media management platforms lays out all three meters side by side, and if you have already decided to move, the Hootsuite alternatives comparison prices every serious competitor against the same three-person, eight-channel example.

What most Hootsuite pricing articles get wrong

Two errors show up repeatedly in the results for this query, and both were live when we checked in August 2026.

The first is a stale Advanced price. Several widely-shared articles list Advanced at $249 per user. Hootsuite's own page says $399. Prices in this category change more often than affiliate content gets refreshed, and Hootsuite has repriced more than once.

The second is the claim that Hootsuite is annual-only with no monthly option. Its own pricing FAQ says the opposite: monthly and annual billing are both available on Standard, Professional and Advanced, and annual simply carries a lower per-user rate. The displayed prices are the annual ones, which is where the confusion starts.

The habit worth taking from this is simple. For any subscription over roughly $1,000 a year, open the vendor's own pricing page before you build a budget from a comparison article, and note the date you checked it.

So is Hootsuite worth it?

It is worth it when several people genuinely work inside it. The unified inbox, the monitoring and the approval routing are real products that a $5 scheduler does not attempt, and if your team answers customers on social all day, that is money well spent.

It is poor value when one person schedules posts for a handful of profiles. At that shape you are paying suite prices for a calendar, and a per-channel tool does the same job for a tenth of the price.

There is also a third case worth naming, because it is the most common one we see. Plenty of teams buy a platform to fix a problem the platform does not address. If the calendar is empty because nobody has time to decide what to post and write it, no scheduler fixes that at any tier. Hootsuite will publish an empty schedule perfectly. Before you compare tiers, be honest about whether your constraint is publishing or producing, because those are different purchases. We wrote more about that split in AI social media marketing, and if you are budgeting a wider stack, AI marketing platform pricing carries verified numbers for nine vendors.

Questions people ask about Hootsuite pricing

How much does Hootsuite cost per month?

Hootsuite costs $99 per user per month on Standard, $199 per user on Professional and $399 per user on Advanced, with Enterprise quoted individually. Those are the rates on annual billing. Standard covers up to 10 social accounts and Professional and above cover unlimited accounts. Because the meter is per user rather than per team, a three-person team on Professional pays $597 a month, not $199.

Is Hootsuite free?

No. Hootsuite retired its permanent free plan and now offers a 14-day free trial that does not require a credit card and does not charge you automatically when it ends. After the trial the cheapest paid option is Standard at $99 per user per month. If you specifically want a free tier rather than a trial, Buffer still runs one.

Why is Hootsuite so expensive?

Because it bills per user, and seats are the most expensive unit in this category. A single login on Standard is $99 a month, which is reasonable for a full suite. The cost problem appears when a second and third person need access, since each one adds the full seat price. A team of three on Professional pays $7,164 a year for software that lists at $199 a month.

Does Hootsuite offer monthly billing?

Yes. Hootsuite offers both monthly and annual billing on Standard, Professional and Advanced. The prices shown on its pricing page are the annual-billing rates, and Hootsuite states that annual billing gives a lower per-user monthly rate than paying month to month. Several third-party articles claim Hootsuite is annual-only, which its own pricing page contradicts.

Does Hootsuite have a nonprofit discount?

Yes. Hootsuite confirms on its own pricing FAQ that it offers a discounted rate for nonprofits on some plans, but it does not publish the discounted figure or say which plans qualify. You have to ask their sales team for the number, so treat any specific nonprofit percentage you see quoted elsewhere as unverified.

How many social accounts does Hootsuite include?

Standard covers up to 10 social media accounts, which Hootsuite defines as individual profiles such as one Instagram account or one Facebook page. Professional and Advanced both include unlimited social accounts. That cap is the most common reason teams move up a tier, and it is worth checking before you buy, because passing 10 profiles doubles the per-user price.
