Sprout Social Pricing 2026: Cost Per Seat by Plan

Every Sprout Social plan is metered per person, so the sticker price is only your bill if one person logs in. Verified September 2026 prices by tier, the five seat math that reaches $17,940 a year, and the add-ons that are not on the plan table.

The short answer: Sprout Social costs $79 per seat per month on Essentials, $199 on Standard, $299 on Professional and $399 on Advanced, with Enterprise quoted individually. Those are annual billing rates, and monthly billing costs more, $99 rather than $79 on Essentials. There is no free plan, only a 30 day trial with no credit card. The words that decide your budget are "per seat": the meter counts logins, not companies, so five people on Professional pay $1,495 a month rather than $299.

Every figure below was read from Sprout Social's own US pricing page on 5 September 2026. That matters more than usual here, because the numbers circulating on comparison sites for this product are unusually wrong. Prices move, so check before you sign.

Sprout Social pricing in 2026

Plan Price Social profiles Who it is really for
Essentials $79 per seat per month ($99 monthly) 5 One person running a handful of accounts who wants publishing, a single inbox and basic reporting.
Standard $199 per seat per month 5 Small teams that need approval workflows and competitive reports. The five profile cap catches people out at this price.
Professional $299 per seat per month Unlimited The tier most agencies and multi brand teams actually land on, because it is the first one without a profile cap.
Advanced $399 per seat per month Unlimited Teams that need automated inbox rules, chatbots and stricter approval controls at volume.
Enterprise Quoted Unlimited Larger deployments bundling listening, advocacy and services. No published number, so budget from a quote.

Two things in that table do most of the damage to a budget. The first is the seat meter. The second is the profile cap: Essentials and Standard both stop at five social profiles, so a business running Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and a second brand page is already over the line at $199 a seat and has to jump to $299 to fix it. The jump from Standard to Professional is a $100 per person per month decision usually forced by profile count rather than by any feature.

What Sprout Social actually costs your team

The published price is a per person rate, so the only number that means anything is headcount multiplied by tier. Here is what that looks like at annual billing rates.

People with a login Standard, $199 a seat Professional, $299 a seat Per year on Professional
1 $199 a month $299 a month $3,588
2 $398 a month $598 a month $7,176
3 $597 a month $897 a month $10,764
5 $995 a month $1,495 a month $17,940
10 $1,990 a month $2,990 a month $35,880

Read the last row before you plan a hire. On a per seat platform, growing the team is a software purchase as well as a payroll decision. Ten people on Professional is $35,880 a year, and nothing about the product changed between the first login and the tenth. Tools that meter by workspace or by channel charge the same whether two people or twenty need access, which is the structural reason so many teams eventually leave. That arithmetic is worked through tool by tool in our guide to Sprout Social alternatives.

Why the prices you find elsewhere do not match

This is worth a section because Sprout is a genuinely bad product to research. Search its pricing and you will find comparison pages confidently listing Professional at $399 and Advanced at $499. Sprout's own US pricing page, read on 5 September 2026, shows $299 and $399. The gap is not small: on a five person team it is the difference between $17,940 and $23,940 a year.

Most of those pages are not lying, they are stale. Aggregators, procurement marketplaces and review sites snapshot a price list once and rarely revisit it, and SaaS vendors reprice quietly. The practical rule is the same one that applies to every vendor in this category: take the number from the vendor's own pricing page, note the date you read it, and treat everything else as a lead rather than a fact. We date every price we publish for exactly this reason.

The four costs that are not on the pricing page

The plan table is not the whole invoice. Sprout sells several modules alongside the plans, and it publishes a price for none of them.

  • Premium Analytics and Listening. Sold as Social Insights add-ons from Standard upward. Listening is the feature people most often assume is included in an expensive plan, and it is not. No published price, so it comes through sales.
  • Employee Advocacy. A separate module for getting staff to share company content, available from Standard upward, again with no published figure.
  • Influencer Marketing. Sold as its own product that does not require a Sprout plan at all. Priced by quote.
  • Professional Services. Strategic guidance and onboarding packages at several levels. Enterprise deals in this category commonly attach a one time services fee, so ask what it is before you sign rather than after.

None of this is hidden exactly, but none of it is priced either, which means an Enterprise quote can land a long way from anything you calculated from the public page. Go into that conversation knowing your seat count, your profile count and which modules you would actually use, because those three numbers are what the quote is built from. Ask for the module list and the per seat rate in writing, because a verbal number in a sales call is not a number you can budget against.

How Sprout compares on price

Sprout is at the expensive end of its category, and the comparison that matters is not the sticker price but the unit being metered.

Tool Metered by Entry price Cost for 5 people
Sprout Social Seat $79 a seat $1,495 a month on Professional
Hootsuite Seat $99 a seat $995 a month on Professional
Planable Workspace, users unlimited $33 a workspace $49 a month on Pro
SocialBee Plan tier, extra seats $10 $29 a month $119 a month on Pro
Buffer Channel, users unlimited $5 a channel $100 a month on Team at 10 channels

Prices verified 5 September 2026 from each vendor's own US pricing page. Hootsuite is the closest like for like and is cheaper at every tier, though it bills per seat too, so it delays the problem instead of removing it. The full tier by tier version of that comparison is in our Hootsuite pricing breakdown, and the wider field is covered in social media management platforms.

Is Sprout Social worth $299 a seat?

Sometimes, and the test is specific. Sprout earns its price when two things are true: somebody produces client ready or board ready reports on a regular cycle, and somebody handles enough inbound messages that a unified inbox is a real workday rather than a convenience. Teams where both are true generally find the cheaper tools thin, and the money is well spent.

It is poor value when the platform is functionally a calendar. Scheduling posts is a commodity in 2026. If what you actually do is queue content across a few profiles and check numbers monthly, you are paying reporting and listening prices for publishing, and Planable, SocialBee or Buffer will do that part for a tenth of the cost.

There is a third case that no pricing comparison catches. Plenty of teams shopping for a cheaper scheduler do not have a tool problem at all, they have an empty calendar, because nobody has time to decide what to post. Switching platforms moves the invoice and leaves the bottleneck exactly where it was. If that sounds familiar, the cheaper fix is upstream: get the month's angles out of your head first, whether that is an afternoon with a whiteboard or a tool that turns one campaign theme into dozens of usable ideas, and only then decide which scheduler deserves your money.

What to do before you renew

Three checks, in order. Count the people who genuinely need a login rather than the people who have one, because on a per seat platform dormant accounts are pure waste and this is where most of the savings are. Count your social profiles, since five is the line that separates $199 from $299 and it is easy to cross by accident. Then ask which parts of Sprout you actually opened last month, and whether listening and premium analytics are among them, because those are the features the cheaper tools genuinely do not replace.

If the honest answer is that you use it to schedule posts and pull a monthly report, you are a candidate to move, and the options are laid out with verified prices in our Sprout Social alternatives comparison. If the answer is that reporting and the inbox carry real weight, keep it and cut seats instead. Either way the production problem stays with you, which is what AI social media marketing covers, honestly, including the parts an agent will not do.
